Depok – The Master’s Program in Public Policy at Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia welcomed assessors from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) during a field assessment conducted on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. This visit marked the tenth field assessment carried out for study programs within the university.
The event opened with a welcome address from the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Philips J. Vermonte, PhD. He opened the event by greeting the BAN-PT assessors, Dr. Denok Kurniasih and Dr. Roni Ekha Putra, who were already present in the Smart Meeting Room of Faculty A. In the beginning of his speech, he expressed the early history of UIII as a university alongside the Faculty of Social Sciences as one of the pioneer faculties among three other faculties.
The rector of UIII, Professor Jamhari, welcomed the BAN-PT assessors and explained UIII’s founding vision and objectives. Generally, UIII was established to be a research university that competes globally and excels in moderate Islamic studies. He hopes this field assessment will lead to improvements and development for the MPP Study Program and is content to receive input and guidance from the assessors for further improvement.
The field assessment was conducted by thoroughly reviewing nine accreditation criteria, including the program’s vision and mission, management, student and education, human resources, financial resources, research and community engagement, and output and achievement. Faculty and study program leaders, lecturers, educational staff, alumni, and graduate users were interviewed to confirm inquiries related to accreditation criteria.
The interview session went smoothly, and the MPP Study Program boasts advantages in terms of highly qualified lecturers’ research, international partnerships, international students, and adequate facilities and infrastructure. Furthermore, assessors suggested that improvements at MPP in the future include the entirety of governance documents, an international standard curriculum, and the promotion of lecturers’ academic positions.
Rifqi Muna, Ph.D., Chair of the Academic Senate, expressed his appreciation for the input that the assessors conveyed. He emphasized the importance of this program, as well as the significance of the assessors’ oversight for substantive improvements to the program.
Finally, Sonny Mumbunan, Ph.D., Head of the MPP Study Program, stated that he welcomed all feedback from the assessors during the field assessment.
